I Had a great Strength & Conditioning session and Sports Nutrition lecture with the Sunny Hills Wrestling team this morning. Wrestling is the the most ancient of combat sports with its roots going back +4000 years. It makes me happy to see it thriving to this day. In a sport were the main objective is to break your opponents will and slam them on their head, in front of friends and family, every advantage possible must be sought after.
To gain the Nutrition advantage:
Create a quality meal plan. Use software for feedback. Modify your intake according to results.
Get within striking distance of competition weight ASAP. Sacrifice/ suffer in off season or on off/ light training days in season.
Have a battle-tested ritual of pre-competition meals and supplements. Refuel glycogen in between matches.
Performance, health and body composition must all be addressed. Figure out which one is lagging and fix it through strategic trial and error. Nutrition is a combat skill that can always be improved!
