Nutrition Basics

Nutrition more than any other science is corrupted by 'FAKE NEWS'. Scum bag marketers mix a little pseudo-science with clever marketing and create the new fad diet of the year. They get rich. People lose weight while they grind through unhealthy and unsustainable diets and then gain it all back. The scientist aren't helping either. They can't make up their nerdy minds. For decades, fat and cholesterol was evil heart-clogging sludge. Then recently, "nope, we were wrong, Carbs were the culprit all along". Back and forth they flip flop, leaving the public frustrated & confused. WTF!?! GOOD nutrition is not rocket science. Eat MOSTLY whole nutrient dense foods. Protein to repair. Veggies, fruits and healthy fats for Vit./minerals/fiber. Starchy carbs for energy. occasional junk food. Between 10-20 Cals /lb of body weight. The more active you are, the more food & flexibility you need/deserve. Supplements are useful but not necessary.   For advanced athletes, OPTIMAL nutrition should be the goal and will be covered in a future post.
